SmartTourism with Guide Like You enables people to make the most out of their trip. Our target audience is mainly students and young adults (twentysomething), who are SmartTourists, eager to discover the way locals live. Our SmartGuides can be both particulars and graduated guides. They set a price per hour depending on their knowledge so SmartTourists can choose the SmartGuide they like the most.

Le SmartTourism permet d’optimiser votre voyage. Nous visons principalement les étudiants et les jeunes adultes (la vingtaine), qui cherchent vraiment à découvrir la ville auprès des locaux.

NB : we ask our users to tell us a bit more about their personality. It enables us to order search results through matchmaking between each other profiles, and Guarantee to find a Guide Like You.

What is our job exactly? / Quel est notre métier exactement?
www.guidelikeyou.com is a platform that connects SmartTourists with SmartGuides.

  • We make sure to find qualified SmartGuides in every city. Depending on if they are graduated or not, they set themselves a price per hour. The perfect way for anyone (not only students in Tourism, not only students actually) to make little money at the end of the month, around 50$ per visit.

    Nous trouvons des SmartGuides de qualité dans chaque ville. Ils déterminent leur tarif horaire, et gagnent de l’argent facilement (45€ par visit environ).

  • We assure a group of friends and / or family they will discover the city from a very different point of view. For a few bucks each, they meet their SmartGuide, which will make a huge difference for their stay. Historical background, little secrets of the neighborhood, etc. And we strongly believe that there is no better way to discover each other culture than spending time together. You feel the same right? Is it really worth going abroad without interacting with locals? 

    Nous permettons aux groupes d’amis / famille de découvrir la ville d’un point de vue unique ! Histoire, petits secrets du quartiers, etc. Le meilleur moyen de découvrir la culture locale, sans aucun doute.

  • We find the best spots (based on various quality standards) and get a discount for our users (only in valuable places!). In includes restaurants, bars, concept stores, etc. Both SmartTourists and SmartGuides are entitled to take advantage of them. 

    Nous trouvons les meilleures adresses (critères de qualité précis) et offrons des réductions aux SmartTourists et aux SmartGuides (uniquement des endroits de qualité).

Why do we aim to launch our service city by city? / Pourquoi lancer les villes une par une?
Because we want to keep an eye on the quality of what we propose. Launching a city implies that we go there, meet the different shops, restaurants and bars owners we want to negotiate with.

Pour garder un œil sur la qualité de notre service. Nous allons sur place, nous rencontrons les gérants des établissements que nous vous recommandons.

We also need to spend time on PR, to increase brand awareness and engage a new range of users. To do so, we get in touch with university’s social connectors and ask them to forward our concept. Even better, we try to set a short introduction speech to interested fellows.

Nous avons aussi besoin de temps pour faire connaître Guide Like You sur place. Nous passons avec les services communication des universités, nous organisons des petits rassemblements pour présenter notre concept.

How will the money be spent? / Comment allons-nous utiliser l’argent?
Basically we need money to finish implementing nice features to optimize user experience – we are in beta at the moment. For instance, we want to enable users to add some SmartGuides to their wishlist, we want to enroll users thank to Instagram and we are planning to build a nice smartphone app to be able to communicate with our users during their mobility. Getting our freelance IT guys to do so will necessitate approximately $5,500 - $6,000, used mostly during the first semester of 2015. We wil of course keep you updated of every new features when we release them!

Nous avons besoin de moyens pour lancer de nouvelles fonctionnalités : ajouter des SmartGuides à une wishlist, utiliser Instagram, créer une application mobile. Cela équivaut à $5,500 - $6,000, dépensés sur le premier semestre 2015.

Now that Guide Like You is live, we really need to spread the word to the world. We are about to launch a Google Adwords campaign in order to target intelligently our audience. Our main objective is to gain notoriety. Therefore, we have prepared a Youtube campaign (those short videos that pop before your video). It is quite cost effective and we have a nice video that explains our concept. The first image is our logo so we are sure to increase brand awareness efficiently. Running 3 two weeks campaigns will necessitate $4,000 to start efficiently. We aim to run the first by the end of January to increase considerably our base of users. 

Nous allons lancer une campagne de publicité en ligne centrée sur notre cœur de cible. Nous recherchons de la notoriété. Une campagne Youtube est un bon rapport qualité prix. La première image est notre logo, ce qui permettra d’être bien visible. 3 campagnes de 2 semaines équivalent à $4,000 pour être efficace. La première devrait être fin Janvier pour gagner beaucoup d’utilisateurs.

Last but not least, as mentioned above, we are going to travel quite a lot which will imply operational fees. We always prefer carpooling and couchsurfing to optimize our budget. It is actually a great compromise to meet nice people and keep on spreading our concept. From our experience when we launched Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam and Copenhaguen, we believe we will necessitate approximately $3,000 - $3,500 (without transports) over 4-5 months around Southern Europe and Northern America.

Enfin, nous allons beaucoup voyager, ce qui implique des frais – nous prenons la nourriture et l’hébergement à nos frais. Nous préférons toujours le covoiturage et le couchsurfing pour optimiser le budget. C’est en fait super pour rencontrer des gens très intéressants et parler de Guide Like You. D’après notre expérience à Londres, Bruxelles, Amsterdam et Paris, il nous faudra $3,000 - $3.500 (sans transport) pour les 4-5 mois à venir.
